Waiting

from Shadow by Steve Blaque

/

about

It's a track originally from The Devlins. I've been messing with it in an acoustic sense for my live shows but recently decided to record it in the studio and play around with it. The background to this recording was that I tried to record it beat mapped and while i was doing realized that it sucked and that it was pretty awful. late one evening about a week back from writing what i'm writing now I addressed several aspects, which included all the heavy orchestrations and then just left it. A few days later i went back to the song and didn't even recall having done the parts, such is the pressure i'm under as time drags by in the Corona riddled town of Beijing. Needless i was pleasantly surprised and decided 'you know what i'll roll with this, add a bass line and some drums and then maybe do the guitar part myself on acoustic guitar rather than wait for another guy i'd reached out to (still a phrase that i want to beat myself up for for writing), but who hadn't by time of releasing come up with the track. ....and so with this backdrop the song gets released as it is....from the minute i first heard the track until now i dig it ...i dig The Devlin's version and dig what i've done....tha's usually testament to a good song through my eyes....

lyrics

Waiting
The Devlins
Waiting at the station,
Waiting for the right moves,
Waiting in the basement,
Waiting for the right cues,
Waiting in a daydream,
Waiting in the slipstream
Waiting
Waiting in the right bars,
Waiting in the right shoes,
Waiting in a fast car,
Waiting in the airports,
Waiting for my airmiles,
Waiting in slow motion,
Coming through the turnstiles.
And if you ever change your mind,
You know I'm hard to find,
And if you ever need someone
I'll still be waiting
Waiting with the orphans, waiting for the bee stings, they tell me that success brings,
Waiting in the half light, waiting for your whole life,
Waiting for an ideal a low deal a no deal, to play your stereotype.
And if you ever find the time,
You know I'm not far behind,
And if you ever need someone
I'll still be waiting
Just waiting for a friend.
I say it's alright,
It's alright my friend just waiting.
