Thirst

about

The track was introduced by my brother who sent it on over a few years back. I'll write more of the exact origin of the song, but in my mind over the years of playing it I've thought of it as a Josh Homme track. I first tried to play this song with Blaque and Blunt in Beijing in 2013. We performed it one time not very successfully and not in the current style which I took into my solo shows during 2014. That's about where it lies. The recording sessions were the same as all others on the album but for this track the guitar is my Glen Burton Memphis guitar which has this real kind of steel sound courtesy of the factory pick up which gives a really tinny n' cheap sound. The original guitar track was replaced and along with the whole album not being beat mapped was a tricky procedure I opted for and I think I was able to do well enough..that's what you're hearing on this version. The song in fact is a track from City and Color.

lyrics

"Thirst"

When I think of
Fates worse than death
All I can think of
Is something you said
You said we were golden
Bright like the sun
And now I am stranded
Knowing I'm not the one

An ocean of anger
Flowing through me
Blood-stained and broken
From what I failed to see
And just like a snake charmer
You led me astray
Living in distress
Hoping help was on the way

In the midst of a storm searching for shelter
I came upon one single feather
A half-hearted wish for something better
Gracefully cursed
I thirst

Attached to the soil
I'm dyed in the wool
There's iron in my blood
Yet so vulnerable
But after I'm gone
Once I finally leave
You will be left alone
To the wolves and the thieves.

In the midst of a storm searching for shelter
I came upon one single feather
A half-hearted wish for something better
Gracefully cursed
I thirst

Gracefully cursed
I thirst

Gracefully cursed
I thirst

I thirst
