Move on Out the Door

from My Lair by Steve BLaque

/

about

This piece is about the cruelty of under employment in a world that has lost any contact with the trigger of depopulation. the metaphor of a contract killer playing a character despised by society as might medicine by a young child...bitter pill kind've stuff.....we're never really sure how this person finalizes his part in this tune, leaving that to each listener....written in 2006 and then rewritten in 2015. the song has long been one of my live performance pieces and a fun one to play.

lyrics

Move on Out the Door
Steve Blaque

roll
play hard
sun shine on you
pick up
before
character
out that door

out
how you're paid
do the cash
fuck yer lay
gun hire
just for temp
live or die
fuck yer government
play gay
menoige de trois
abnormal
who the fuck's a star

chorus
livin' in a convenience store
fractured world
ha, that's the call
violence everywhere
time to kill
get out that door
to a life where you can breathe
fuck the pimps and the sleeze
there's still that one more score
then it's
move on out that door

friends work
to get ahead
pressure builds
then they're dead

on the board
directly to jail
without cash
wait for bail

in and out
no one gets hurt
just a job
get up
and go to work

chorus
livin' in a convenience store
fractured world
ha, that's the call
violence everywhere
time to kill
get out that door
post chorus
to a life where you can breathe
fuck the pimps and the sleeze
there's still that one more score
then it's
move on out that door

coda refrain
ain't no point to stick around
nothin' left for you in this here town
pack up yer tools time to roll
wander this world n' find your soul
ain't no point to stick around
nothin' left for you in this here town
pack up yer tools time to roll
wander this world n' find your soul
