Layer Cake

from My Lair by Steve BLaque

/

about

it was sometime in 2011 and this dog that was living beneath me had these fucks of owners who'd leave it @ home fo' days on end...n' then in the fireworks that came along the dog went batshit crazy....along with all the other shit happening in my life i kind've just got this idea for Layer Cake....which was an idea based on the meaning of the film of the same name Layer Cake....without going to far into no man's land, what i can say is that the song was originally written in this kind've La bamba style....and i was havin' a lot of fun playing with it in the kitchen while i was going through a pie cooking stage of life....soon enough i stopped cooking pies and got back to the real shit of writing music. the song really was written as a piss take, just that over the years of playing it solo in clubs i was enjoying it's energy more n' more..it evolved into the version you now here based upon the numerous times i played it live....

lyrics

layer cake
Steve Blaque

i'm fallin' down
losin' my soul
can't someone
hit the brakes
i'm out o' control

parkin' fines
push me to the edge
the mornin' news
doin' in my head
the neighbor's dog
i wish it would play dead
the BBC's global dread

chorus

and how much shit
does it take
in this modern day
layer cake
i'm not sure
i really wanna know
revolutions
oh they come n' go
yes, they come n' go
n' the layer cake
just grows n' grows

deification
no imagination
throngs in my face
the breeding race
captain america
lost in space

middle 8
well may a grain of salt
be sprinkled from its shaker
while the sandwich that you eat
smorgasborg
from a bulldust maker
a cow dung faker
an over compensator

chorus

and how much shit
does it take
in this modern day
layer cake
i'm not sure
i really wanna know
revolutions
oh they come n' go
yes, they come n' go
n' the layer cake
just grows n' grows
coda
and how much shit
does it take
in this modern day
layer cake
and how much shit
does it take
in this modern day
layer cake
and how much shit
does it take
in this modern day
layer cake
