Grass is Greener

from Shuffling Deckchairs by Steve BLaque

about

Grass is Greener was recorded in April 2010 in my studios in downtown Beijing. I'd been messing with songs all over the place @ that time and was done to death with listenin' back n' forth...n' what i wanted was something that ''even i liked to listen to'..just coz i might write the songs doesn't always mean i like them...sometimes it's a process n' you go with it because that's what the sum total of your skills allows you to do, but you want something more....Grass is Greener was born of that. I was bringing back a lick from around 20 years back and was really groovin' on it and that was the bass line. i dug it almost instantly especially with how it worked with the beat. Maggie Gao was definitely in the picture because I wanted the song to be a duet and she brought to the plate what i was looking for. Trumpet is 'the wolf from bugs bunny'' blowin' his horn.....hey ''it was my album so of course I was gonna blow my own horn on my own album''..but I truly am a '2nd trumpeter''......pretty happy with the song, especially the sample that kicks it off, because it's so incongruous to the song and yet it isn't.
